With Staples High School Westport's History Heads Into the FutureOver 100 years ago in 1884 Staples High School Westport was founded by Horace Staples. At a time when education was not fashionable, this visionary took it upon himself to build a school where the town residents could pursue a love of knowledge. ![]() Today this Westport High School is now a state of the art facility. While it has occupied it's current location since 1958 - the facility recently underwent a major renovation. Students at this Westport high school enjoy a rich and varied curriculum. Judged as one of the top high schools in Connecticut students have consistently beat the state average scores on the CAPT's (CT Academic Performance Test). The extracurricular activities and sports programs that are offered are excellent as well. The Staples Players (drama) stage high caliber musicals that put Broadway to shame. The Staples sports teams are known as the Wreckers and just about every major sport is represented including - football, soccer, baseball, rugby, lacrosse, golf, and more.
